Copley Recognizes its NursesContact: Peter Wright, 888-830105/02/2006
For Immediate Release
They are surgical and recovery staff, emergency, medical surgical and special care staff, they are the dedicated nurses in the hospital’s outpatient service center and outreach department and the staff who welcomes new life to our community at the birthing center .” In total Copley employs 112 registered nurses and that’s just the hospital. Lest we forget the nurses that see you in physician offices, nursing homes or those that travel to your home. They come from as near as Morrisville, Craftsbury and Waterbury and as far as Underhill, Irasburg, Burlington and Roxbury. These remarkable professionals provide care for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week 52 weeks a year. May 6 - 12, 2006 is National Nurses Week – a time to recognize their commitment and dedication to our patients. At 2.9 million strong, it’s no wonder nurses represent the largest group of healthcare workers in America.
Officials at Copley are encouraging the community to join them in saluting its professional and first-rate nursing staff. “The role nurses play in delivering health care to our community is pivotal. Their compassion, professionalism and care have touched so many in our community and is the foundation of what makes the care at Copley so personal,” states Copley Chief Nurse Officer, Glenn Meadows, RN. Adding, “This year’s theme, “Nurses: Strength, Commitment, Compassion,” really hits home. In fact, because of their caring ways and professionalism, our nursing staff ranked above average, (92nd percentile), when compared to 13 Vermont hospitals for patient satisfaction according to our Press Ganey patient satisfaction scores.”
When not providing hands-on care for their patient’s, most are taking classes to keep current with their certifications or attending conferences, seminars and in-services training in an effort to keep up-to-date with the continuous changes in the way healthy care is delivered.
Their kind concern and caring approach extends to patients’ families and friends, too, and they do their best to make a little extra time to offer support, reassurance and information.
“We receive many letters and comments from family members expressing their appreciation with how Copley includes them in the overall care of their loved one. Our nurses communicate, keep family well informed and are attentive to patient and family needs,” commented Meadows.
“With an older and often sicker patient population, all health care workers are continually being asked to do more with less. Copley extends its gratitude to the tireless hours of dedication nurses continually provide to our patients,” continued Meadows.
Join the Trustees, administration and staff in paying tribute to the excellent nursing staff in our community – they are the core of caring at Copley.
