Copley Sponsors AARP Driver Safety ProgramTo register contact: Jill Baker, 888-830204/01/2008
It’s been described by past participants as a valuable program in reviewing the rules of the road and making one aware of bad habits. In an effort to help older drivers improve their driving skills, awareness of traffic hazards, and up-to-date information on traffic laws and new technology, Copley Hospital is pleased to host an AARP Driver Safety Class. The program is unique, and available for non-members as well as AARP members. And, during the month of May, AARP is offering a special 50% discount to all AARP members and their guest. The class is scheduled for (Thursday and Friday) May 1st and May 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Copley. The volunteer instructor will be David Peters of Elmore. This highly effective Defensive Driving Course (which may enable you to receive an auto insurance discount) reduces the probability of your having an automobile accident. The course is designed for drivers age 50 and older and covers important issues that affect older drivers such as; Physical changes and limitations, Normal driving situations and distractions, Safe driving and vehicle information, The impact of medication on motorists, and Information on aggressive drivers, anti-lock brakes and more. Taught in two, four-hour sessions the course provides older drivers an opportunity to fine tune driving skills and become safer and better drivers. There is a fee payable to AARP. There has never been a better time to tune up your skills. Because this program is popular, Peters recommends early registration in order to guarantee a spot in this offering. For more information or for a registration mailing contact Copley’s Community Information Office at 888-8302.
