It’s a celebration of wellness.  It’s also a celebration of 75 years.  Copley officials announced this week that their 12th annual Health & Safety Carnival is scheduled for Saturday, September 8th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Copley’s Morrisville campus.  “The event is an opportunity for families, friends and neighbors to become better aware of the many health resources available in our communities as well as an opportunity to participate in free health screenings and activities,” stated Linda Shaw, RN, CCE, manger Copley Community Outreach.   “We are also celebrating Copley Hospital’s 75th birthday.”
 
“Supporting prevention and wellness is at the core of our mission,” states Senior Director Planning, Development and Medical Group Operations, Peter Wright.  “Our goal is to collaborate with other community providers to maximize our resources and our impact within the community.”
 
For years this event has brought people from the Lamoille area to participate in activities centered around fitness, health and prevention. Although Copley’s presence is evident at the event with the many displays and activities, the event is supported by both local and regional health care providers, businesses and individuals.  Shaw described the event as something the entire family will enjoy, “there’s something for everyone!” Adding, “It’s an opportunity for some to participate in the variety of free health screenings, look around and talk to local health care representatives, participate in hands-on activities or just enjoy watching their children have a fun time.”
 
Letters inviting local businesses to present at the fair have recently been sent, however, open participation is encouraged.  Shaw encourages any business or individual that offers a health related service and is interested in participating in the fair to contact her at 888-8369.   And for all community members, mark this important date on your calendars!
